The combined fleet assembles in Gudrun space, preparing for the few days worth of jumps that will bring it to battle. The mission is three part, having been discussed over days in coucil. The plans is controversal, at best. Adventurers from every walk of life sign on in droves to fill out the under-skilled bridge crews, knowing that victory here could break the Remnant as a foe, and open the western corridor for exploration, and expansion. An open channel between all vessels is opened for comments and further fine-tuning before battle. The only announcment from UNW Central itself is the nomination of Billy Rigers as acting Lord Admiral for the space contingent, recognizing his previous accomplishments at the helm at the Battle of Rawhani.

(In game terms, Billy gets some special orders so he can give bonuses to other friendly ships, you wont be just dice rolling lackeys or anything)

Cyrus comms over the group channel "Everyone knows their jobs, everyone's got their objectives. Stick too them and with hope we'll win the day. We cannot afford to let the enemy have this weapon, make every attempt to deprive him of it and allow your Home's to be safe a little longer, we fight for those who cannot and for those we have lost, that they have taken. Let the Remnant rue the day they chose to make war on the peaceful people of this Sector and any other that they have brought their foul rule over! We are the tip of the spear that will land a mortal blow to their vile regime!" There is a short pause before Cyrus continues "Make your peace with whoever you need to, write letters and sign off on messages. May the God's watch over us all. Let's get this done." (edited)

Fuel lines, external power feeds, and then finally, boosted comm arrays are slowly detached as the UNW combined armada powers to the edge of the system, preparing to make their tandem jumps, to Miriam, Sumati, and then finally, to Alcibiades

"I'm coming from Aslief," Desmond says. "Where do you need me?"

"Lone Star, you will have a place in the battle line. We will need your torpedoes and your steady hand" (alcibiades space is the mission thread you'll be in)

15 points of light prick the edge of Gudrun system space, as the fleet jumps to its first leg, Aslief. THe night world turns below, a day later. Well wishers from the ground beam up transmissions and prayers of hope.

Six hours pass, and the drives resume power, Miriam (should have been first, got the order backwards) , the beautiful jewel of ice below, slowly spins. The world is a marble of pure blue hued white.

A tense day passes in spike space, before the assault fleet arrives at the edge of Alcibades system space. A titan anchors the enemy response fleet, in system to provide some muscle to lesser vessels that normally choke the orbital lanes here. A carrier is also in accompanyment. Standard Remnant deployment from the look of it. A spread of corvette escorts fills the space between. Alarms begin to sound, signaling battle stations. The enemy force begins to close in, still an hour from firing range (to give us time to RP/Prepare)

(Going to recap) 20 minutes into the battle (1 1/3 rounds) The fleets have begun savaging one another. The battle is beginning to swing in the favor of the UNW, though the grasp is still on a knife's edge. Lord Admiral Rigers and his modified battleship have shown the importance of sound shipbuilding practices, scoring a likely kill on the enemy flagship in the opening moments of the fight. On planet, the AI raid team is beginning to encounter resistance of their own. Climbing the wall of the lab complex, a marksman team overlooking the courtyard was taken out, drawing the attention of the mech pilots guarding below. On the shipyard, a failed bluff has raised the station to alert status, and security teams are beginning to report and rally, scouring the deck for the suspected enemy UNW operatives

Battle Aftermath:

The Remnant space fleet in the local area suffered a significant setback, including the loss of two capital ships. The static defenses orbiting planet, though damaged, are able to be brought online again over the following few days. The mega-shipyard's operations are hampered for a short time as well, though the professionalism and quick response of its intelligence department was able to isolate the threat before it could become even more invasive. Fleet reinforcements are not diverted from the north, the Remnant's inexhaustible supply of vessels perhaps finally showing signs of being overstretched. The planet of Alcibiades persists, several garrisons still left on world, though without a facility to protect, their usefulness is now up for review. The surviving chainveil, to a man, depart for Cruesa, their commanding officer issuing a blood-oath to make the UNW pay. (edited)

Cyrus comes on the join comms as the remains of the fleet and teams reconvene "Good work people, the Device on Alcibiades has been dealt with. The Remnant wont be using it as a weapon ever again. Anyone who might have been working on it at the time in the facility has also been taken care of. You all did an outstanding job, for those that we've lost, we will morn and we will remember them. But think also about those we have saved with our actions and their sacrifice. Gudrun, Asleif, Miriam, the UNW and the entirety of the Universe is safer now, and saved for a little while longer. Go back to your families and loved ones, spend time with them let the light of hope that we have carried through this battle be seen in their eyes and caste away the horrors we have seen. - Cyrus Adonis out."
